CHRISTMAS FOR THE BROKEN-HEARTED!
Welcome to Bilberry Creek Baptist Church Christian community! We don’t know exactly how you arrived at this page, but we are glad you did; especially if you are broken-hearted. One of the main, but often neglected, messages of Christmas is that Jesus came to help heal (bind-up) your broken-heartedness and to release you from things that can so often hold us captive and/or imprison us; physically, emotionally or spiritually. Through his teaching, life, death and resurrection Jesus spent much of His ministry on earth healing the broken-hearted and He still offers to do the same for you today.
SO WHAT HAS BROKEN-HEARTEDNESS GOT TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS?
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations”. Isaiah C61 v 1-4.
DO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCE BROKENHEARTEDNESS?
Many of us at Bilberry have known what it is to be broken-hearted; to be crushed to the point of despair; hurt beyond physical pain, to live (or rather attempt to survive) where hope seems non-existent. While the reasons we got to this point are many and varied, the one thing we have in common is that we have experienced how Jesus can and does reach down into the very depths of our broken-heartedness and bring healing, restoration and wholeness. Each of us at Bilberry is on a journey of restoration and healing and if you are at the stage where you just want to stop the hurting; but don’t necessarily know how to go about it; we would love to listen to your story, share our own stories and point you to the Jesus who came to heal and still heals the broken-hearted!
